The services are mainly provided through home care, with staff travelling to and from Rörö by boat when necessary. This means that even elderly people who continue to live at home on the island can receive help around the clock, for example with personal care, cleaning, meals or night-time supervision.
For people with greater needs, it is possible to apply for a place in special accommodation in the municipality, such as Solhöjden or Bergmans group accommodation. Short-term accommodation and respite care can also be granted if necessary.För personer med större behov finns möjlighet att ansöka om plats på särskilt boende i kommunen, till exempel Solhöjden eller Bergmans gruppboende. Korttidsboende och avlastning kan också beviljas vid behov.
The municipality also offers day activities, meeting places, safety alarms and support for relatives. The goal is for older people on Rörö to be able to live as safely and independently as possible, even with the distance to the mainland.
Elderly care is provided through Öckerö Municipality’s health and social care services, with social workers deciding on the measures to be taken. Home care staff are coordinated by the municipality’s unit managers for the northern area.
