Children’s Island

Rörö has many child-friendly trails, hills, shallow bathing bays and exciting nature that invites play, curiosity and imagination.

It could be anything from building sandcastles, tasting seaweed on the jetty, to taking a boat trip and swimming in the rain or gently patting jellyfish on the beach.

Perhaps they are tiptoeing along their own path of discovery, searching for sheep and horses up in the hills, or enjoying an extra thrilling ride on the swing at the playground.

The children may create their own little installations among the rocks on the west side, play pirates or photographers in Kelly’s bar, or play hide-and-seek in the pine trees. They may add to the row of shoes along the blue trail after picking up litter while humming the song ‘litter in nature is not good for animals’ that they learned at preschool.

They might tie skipping ropes to their bike handlebars and play horse riding school while cycling out to Tallarna again to continue their horse play among the wind-twisted trees. There is always something new to discover, and the place is unique for children’s own adventures.

Rörö Library

The small library on Rörö is a popular meeting place for young and old alike. There is an inviting children’s corner with books and space for quiet play, and a cosy reading corner where you can sit down with a book or leaf through a magazine.

Welcome to Röröboa – the heart of Rörö harbour. Here you will find good food, handmade gelato and that special archipelago feeling that only Rörö can offer.

Rörö IF

Rörö IF is a gathering place for people of all ages who share a passion for sports, exercise in all its forms, and a close-knit community. Whether you are interested in football, boules, padel, orienteering, senior gymnastics, or any other activity, there is something for you at Rörö IF.

Today, Tallarna is a natural destination. The wind-twisted trunks and low branches have become a playful landscape for generations of children who have climbed, swung, and created their own adventures among the pines.

The newly renovated children’s corner in the library is a place for calm and curiosity. Here you’ll find books for both young and old, soft seating, and plenty of space for quiet play.

The Park

The park on Rörö is the island’s natural gathering place, right in the centre and just a stone’s throw from the ice cream kiosk, the shop and the popular fish & chips shed.

The playground

The playground on Rörö offers swings, climbing frames and a lovely large sandpit, all surrounded by peaceful, open spaces. Its convenient proximity to Gule Skära makes it easy to combine playtime with a break for coffee or a tasty snack between swimming and walking home.

Gule skära

On the eastern side is the municipal bathing area Gule Skära, with a jetty, raft, changing room, lifebuoy and toilet. Here, the water is often calmer and more sheltered – perfect for families with children or for those who want to take a safe dip, and the crabs thrive under the pier.

Första viken

The first bay is located by the guest harbour and has the finest sand on the island.
The beach is shallow and child-friendly, with toilets, fresh water, a kiosk and everything else you need close by.

Fjärde viken

Fjärde viken consists of two smaller coves, where the sand meets the cliffs in gentle curves.
Here, sea lavender grows tall on some of the island’s few sandbanks, looking out towards the sea.
