Örådet på Rörö – community and cooperation for the good of the island
The Rörö Island Council is a non-profit association that works to promote the development of the island and strengthen dialogue between islanders, associations and the municipality. The council acts as a collective voice for Rörö and addresses issues ranging from community services and safety to outdoor recreation, traffic, nature conservation and future needs on the island.
Örådet collects feedback from residents, forwards local issues to relevant stakeholders, and works to ensure that important community functions on Rörö run smoothly. Through meetings, working groups, and collaborations with associations and the municipality, a platform is created where islanders can influence and contribute to the development of Rörö.
At present, the Öraad is placing extra focus on ferry traffic and communication to and from the island.
The aim is simple: to protect Rörö’s unique environment, strengthen the village community and ensure that the island continues to be a good place to live and work – for both today’s and tomorrow’s residents of Rörö.
LEADER
Leader is an organisation funded by the EU with the mission of supporting and developing rural areas. Our website is largely funded by Leader.
Leader grants project support for rural areas, and all support is allocated based on the Leader method. This is a method that focuses on local roots and commitment. The Swedish Board of Agriculture has overall formal responsibility for the budget.
If you have a project idea, you can contact your Leader area to see what opportunities are available. In our case on Rörö, we have collaborated with and received a lot of help from Leader Bohuslän. Thank you!
